Website Migration

A website migration service that moves your site without losing what you’ve built.

Stuck on Wix or Squarespace, or with a developer who has stopped answering? We move your website to WordPress, bring your pages and content across and redirect every old address to its new home, so your customers and Google can still find you.

Why it matters

Moving a website is easy. Moving it without losing anything is the skill.

Plenty of businesses outgrow their first website builder, or end up with a developer who built the site and then disappeared. Moving is often the right call, but done carelessly it loses pages, breaks links and can drop you down Google for months.

Website migration done properly brings across everything that matters and leaves a trail for Google to follow. Our website migration service points every old address to its new one, so the visibility you’ve built comes with you. Most moves are to WordPress, but if another platform suits your business better, we can rebuild your site there instead.

  • Pages and content brought across
  • Every old address redirected
  • Domain and logins in your name

What’s included

What our website migration service covers.

01

Moving from Wix to WordPress

There is no simple way to export a whole Wix site into WordPress, so a Wix to WordPress migration means rebuilding the pages on WordPress and bringing the content across: text, images, blog posts and forms. We use the move to make the new site clearer and quicker too.

Moving from Squarespace to WordPress

Squarespace can export some of your content but not all of it, and not the design. So Squarespace to WordPress usually means the same careful rebuild: your pages, posts and images on WordPress, with the layout made to fit.

03

Taking over from your old developer or agency

If your developer has gone quiet, the first job is getting back what is yours: the domain, the hosting and the logins. We help you recover access, take a full copy of the site and move it somewhere you control.

Keeping your place on Google

Every old page address is matched to its new one and redirected, so anyone following an old link, Google included, lands in the right place. We check the redirects after the move and fix anything that slipped through.

After the move

A moved site needs looking after like any WordPress site. A WordPress care plan keeps it updated, backed up and secure from day one.

Already have a website?

Moving is often the first step. Once the site is on WordPress, monthly care keeps it updated and secure. If the platform is fine but the site is slow, speed optimisation is the better fix. And if you’d rather start again than move what you have, that’s a new website.

How it works

How a website migration works.

  • 01

We look at what you have

Where the site lives now, what is on it and who holds the keys to the domain and hosting.

  • 02

    We plan the move

Every page and every address listed, with where each one will go on the new site.

  • 03

    We build and move

The new WordPress site is built and tested before anything switches over.

  • 04

    We switch over and check

Your domain is pointed at the new site, the redirects are tested and we keep watch for anything that slipped through.

FAQs

Common questions about moving your website.

Can you move my website from Wix to WordPress?+
Yes. Wix has no tool to export a whole site, so we rebuild your pages on WordPress, bring the content across and redirect every old address to its new page.
Can you move my site from Squarespace to WordPress?+
Yes. Squarespace can export some content, which helps, but the design and some page types have to be rebuilt. We do that, bring everything across and redirect the old addresses.
Will moving my website hurt my Google rankings?+
It shouldn’t if it’s done properly, though nobody can promise rankings. The main risk is old addresses that lead nowhere, so we redirect every one to its new page and check them after the move. A short wobble while Google catches up is normal.
My developer has gone quiet. Can you take over my website?+
Yes. The first step is getting access back to your domain, hosting and logins, which are usually yours even if someone else set them up. Then we take a full copy and move the site somewhere you control.
What do I need to get back from my old developer?+
The login for wherever your domain is registered, the hosting account, the website’s admin login and any accounts the site relies on, such as email or forms. If you can’t get them, we can help you work out who to ask.
How long does a website migration take?+
It depends on the site. A small site with a few pages moves far quicker than a large one with a shop or bookings, and getting access back from an old developer can take time of its own. We’ll give you a realistic timeline once we’ve looked at yours.
