Marketing Strategy & Consulting

A marketing consultant who finds the gaps, then builds you the plan to fill them.

Most businesses don’t have a marketing problem, they have a priorities problem. We go in, look at what your numbers actually say, and come back with a prioritised plan: where the growth is, what it will take to get it, and what to do first.

Why it matters

Most marketing doesn’t fail because of the channel. It fails because nobody asked the right question first.

Businesses come to us wanting Google Ads, or a new website, or someone to fix their SEO. Sometimes that is exactly the right answer. Often it isn’t, and the money goes into a channel that was never the bottleneck while the real problem sits untouched for another year.

A proper strategy starts the other way round. What does a customer actually cost you, and what are they worth? Where do enquiries drop off? Which channels are already working harder than you think? Answer those first and the plan more or less writes itself, in the right order, with numbers attached.

  • A clear picture of where the money goes
  • The gaps and quick wins, ranked
  • A plan with costs and expected returns
  • A document you own, not a pitch
What’s included

The work, from first look to a plan with numbers on it.

01

The diagnosis

We go through your funnel, analytics, ad accounts, search visibility, website, email list and CRM. What is working, what is quietly leaking money, and what has never been measured at all. Most businesses find at least one surprise here.

02

Your customers and your competitors

Who actually buys from you, what they are worth over time, and how they found you in the first place. Then the businesses beating you in search and in the market, and what they are doing that you aren’t.

03

The gaps and the wins, ranked

Every opportunity scored on effort against likely return, so you know what to do first rather than everything you could theoretically do. The quick wins usually pay for the work before the bigger pieces have even started.

04

The plan, with numbers

A twelve-month plan: which channels, in what order, what each one costs to run properly, and what you should reasonably expect back. Written in plain English, with the assumptions shown so you can challenge them.

05

The handover

We walk you through it together, then it is yours. Run it in-house, hand it to whoever does your marketing, or ask us to deliver it. You own the plan either way, and you are not obliged to spend another penny with us.

Proof

What happens when the strategy actually gets revisited.

Workplace Mindfulness is the clearest example. We build the strategy, implement it, then rebuild it every quarter against what the numbers have since told us. The plan never sits in a drawer going stale, and the returns compound instead of flattening off.

How it works

From first conversation to a plan you can act on.

The strategy work sits ahead of everything else we do — see how we work, step by step.

  • 01

    A conversation

A free thirty-minute call. We look at the obvious things and work out whether there is enough on the table to be worth a proper piece of work. Sometimes the answer is no, and we will say so.

  • 02

    We go in

Access to your analytics, ad accounts and numbers, plus a few conversations with the people who actually talk to your customers. We do this in person where we can, so most of this work is with businesses in Shrewsbury, across Shropshire and around the West Midlands, and remotely for everyone else. This is where the real digging happens.

  • 03

We come back with the plan

Presented properly and walked through together, then written down so you can share it, act on it, or sit on it until the time is right.

  • 04

    You decide what happens next

Run it yourself, give it to someone else, or ask us to deliver it. There is no obligation either way, and no pressure to pick us.

FAQs

Common questions about marketing consulting.

You offer a free audit. Why would I pay for this?+
The free call is thirty minutes and a look at the obvious: your website, your Google presence, a glance at your competitors. It tells you whether there is a problem worth fixing. This is different. It is weeks of work inside your actual numbers, your customers and your competitors, and it ends with a written plan you keep. One tells you something is wrong. The other tells you exactly what to do about it, in what order, and what it should return.
How long does it take?+
Usually three to four weeks from the point we get access to your data. Longer if your tracking has never been set up properly, because the first job is then working out what is actually true. We will tell you which one you are before we start, not halfway through.
What do I actually get at the end?+
A written plan you own. Where you are now with the evidence behind it, the gaps and opportunities ranked by effort against return, and a twelve-month plan of which channels in what order, what each costs to run and what to expect back. Plus a session walking through it together so it is understood, not just delivered.
Do I have to use you to deliver the plan?+
No, and that is deliberate. A plan you can only execute by hiring us is a sales document, not a strategy. Plenty of businesses take it and run it in-house, or hand it to whoever already does their marketing. If you do want us to deliver it, at least you know exactly what you are buying and why.
What if I already know what my problem is?+
Then this might not be for you, and we will say so on the first call rather than take the work. It is worth saying that most businesses are confident about the problem and turn out to be half right: the channel they blame is usually a symptom of something further up the funnel. But if you genuinely know what needs doing, go straight to the channel that needs the work.
What size of business is this for?+
Businesses with something to work with. Some marketing already running, some data behind it, and enough revenue that getting the next twelve months right matters more than the cost of planning it properly. If you are starting from nothing, a full strategy engagement is premature and we will point you at the cheaper starting point instead.
Do you need to come to us?+
For the diagnosis, in person is better wherever it is practical. Being in the room with the people who actually talk to your customers tends to surface things no analytics account ever will. In practice that means most of this work is with businesses in Shrewsbury, across Shropshire and around the West Midlands. Everywhere else in the UK we do it remotely, which works perfectly well; it just takes a little longer to get to the same place.
How is this different from hiring a marketing manager?+
A marketing manager runs marketing day to day. This is the thinking that tells them what to run. The two work well together, and a good manager usually welcomes a plan that has been pressure-tested against the numbers. You also get a senior point of contact for a fraction of what the hire would cost. See what that has produced in our case studies.
